We have created a superior product by combining modern technology with the traditional trade of dress forms. Shapely Shadow provides designers and manufacturers with a custom clone of your fit model’s body, either de-humanized or life-like, as repeatable, symmetrical dress forms. This is accomplished by 3D scanning your fit model or favorite form and manipulating the data to meet your market needs.
This 5 Step Process is called Customization
In only 17 seconds, we scan your fit model or existing form in a 3D body scanner to ascertain shape and spec. This same scan can be used to grade and thereafter create a full range of sizes. |
We manipulate the scan by 3D modeling the virtual body to meet your exact specifications and shape. At this point, a .jpeg is e-mailed to the client for the purpose of selecting which side the client would like to mirror for symmetry, the right or left side. The body is then dehumanized. |
Our high-tech milling machine prepares your already .jpeg approved form into a sample (life-size) form. This form is shipped to the client for additional modifications, if necessary. The final approved foam form is the basis for our master mold. |
The client’s final approved form is once again scanned, mirrored for symmetry and becomes the basis for the master mold. After the mold is complete, each form is created through a vacuum forming process. Our patented technology does not compare to any existing or past company in history. It is unlike paper maché, rubber and fiberglass methods used by others. This process guarantees that the molded plastic is repeatable from the 1st to 500th. |
Once the plastic is formed, the assembly process begins. When the form is fitted with the special features it is then measured to assure compliance with client specifications. Quality control is consistent throughout the manufacturing process. In order to ensure pin-ability a layer of polar fleece is suited to the plastic. Then the form is covered in 100% Irish linen that bears all the demarcation lines used in the pattern making process. I.e. garment reference lines, customized reference lines, princess lines, etc. |
